Account Issues

#

Can’t Log In

#

Problem: Login page doesn’t accept credentials

Solutions:

1. Check credentials:

   • Verify email/username is correct
   • Check for typos
   • Ensure Caps Lock is off

2. Try different method:

   • If using email, try Google OAuth
   • If using Google, try email instead

3. Reset password:

   • Click “Forgot Password”
   • Check email for reset link
   • Check spam folder

4. Clear browser data:

   • Clear cookies for stashed.in
   • Clear browser cache
   • Try incognito/private mode

5. Try different browser:

   • Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge
   • Different device (mobile vs desktop)

6. Contact support:

   • If nothing works
   • Account may be locked
   • Provide email address

Can’t Sign Up

Problem: Registration fails

Solutions:

1. Check requirements:

   • Valid email address
   • Strong password (8+ characters)
   • Username availability

2. Google OAuth issues:

   • Pop-ups may be blocked
   • Allow pop-ups for stashed.in
   • Try email registration instead

3. Email verification:

   • Check spam folder
   • Wait a few minutes
   • Request new verification email

4. Username taken:

   • Try different username
   • Add numbers or underscores
   • Username must be unique

Profile Not Loading

Problem: Profile page shows blank or error

Solutions:

1. Refresh the page
2. Log out and back in
3. Clear browser cache
4. Check internet connection
5. Try different browser
6. Check if account exists:
   • Try logging in on different device
   • Verify email address

Stash Issues

Can’t Create Stash

#

Problem: Create button doesn’t work or shows error

Solutions:

1. Check required fields:

   • Title is required
   • Must be logged in
   • Description optional but recommended

2. Check limits:

   • May have stash limit on free account
   • Delete unused stashes
   • Consider upgrading

3. Network issues:

   • Check internet connection
   • Refresh page
   • Try again in few minutes

4. Browser issues:

   • Clear cache
   • Try different browser
   • Disable ad blockers temporarily

Stash Not Saving

Problem: Changes to stash don’t persist

Solutions:

1. Check connection:

   • Ensure you’re online
   • Wait for save indicator

2. Refresh and verify:

   • Refresh page
   • Check if changes saved
   • Try saving again

3. Permission issues:

   • Ensure you own the stash
   • Can’t edit others’ stashes
   • Check if stash is locked

4. Browser cache:

   • Hard refresh (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R)
   • Clear browser cache
   • Try incognito mode

Can’t Access Stash

Problem: Stash shows 404 or error

Possible Causes:

Stash is Private:

• Only owner can access
• Request access from owner
• Make public if you’re owner

Password Protected:

• Enter correct password
• Check for typos (case-sensitive)
• Request password from owner

Stash Deleted:

• Owner may have deleted it
• Cannot be recovered
• Contact owner for new link

URL Changed:

• Slug may have changed
• Check owner’s profile for new URL
• Update your bookmarks

You’re Not Logged In:

• Log in to your account
• Private stashes require login
• Check you’re using correct account

Stash Settings Won’t Save

Problem: Settings revert after saving

Solutions:

1. Check all fields:

   • Some fields are required
   • Fill in all required info
   • Check error messages

2. Network timeout:

   • Wait for save to complete
   • Don’t close dialog early
   • Check for success message

3. Permission issues:

   • Must be stash owner
   • Can’t change others’ stashes
   • Verify you’re logged in

4. Browser issues:

   • Refresh and try again
   • Clear browser cache
   • Try different browser

Link Issues

Can’t Add Link

#

Problem: Add link fails or shows error

Solutions:

1. Check URL format:

   • Must start with http:// or https://
   • No typos in URL
   • Valid domain name

2. Check limits:

   • May have link limit per stash
   • Delete unused links
   • Create new stash for more links

3. Duplicate link:

   • URL may already exist in stash
   • Edit existing link instead
   • Use different URL

4. Network issues:

   • Check internet connection
   • Refresh page
   • Try again later

5. Metadata fetching:

   • Link may still save without preview
   • Add title/description manually
   • Try fetching metadata again

Preview Image Not Loading

#

Problem: Link shows no image or broken image

Causes & Solutions:

Site Blocks Scraping:

• Some sites block metadata fetchers
• Add image URL manually
• Find image on the page and copy URL

No Open Graph Tags:

• Site doesn’t have OG metadata
• Manually add image URL
• Leave blank (link still works)

Image URL Invalid:

• Check image URL is correct
• Image may have been deleted
• Find alternative image

Slow Loading:

• Wait a few seconds
• Refresh the page
• Fetch metadata again

Link Not Saving

#

Problem: Link disappears or doesn’t persist

Solutions:

1. Wait for save:

   • Don’t close dialog immediately
   • Wait for success message
   • Check for error messages

2. Check required fields:

   • URL is required
   • Must be valid URL format
   • Title recommended

3. Network issues:

   • Check internet connection
   • Refresh and try again
   • Try different browser

4. Permission issues:

   • Must have edit access
   • Can’t add to others’ stashes
   • Verify you’re logged in

Can’t Edit Link

#

Problem: Edit doesn’t save or shows error

Solutions:

1. Check permissions:

   • Must own the stash
   • Can’t edit others’ links
   • Verify you’re logged in

2. Network issues:

   • Wait for save to complete
   • Check for success message
   • Refresh and verify

3. Concurrent editing:

   • Someone else may be editing
   • Refresh to get latest version
   • Try editing again

4. Browser cache:

   • Clear browser cache
   • Hard refresh (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R)
   • Try incognito mode

Can’t Delete Link

Problem: Delete doesn’t work or link reappears

Solutions:

1. Confirm deletion:

   • Make sure you confirmed
   • Check for success message
   • Refresh to verify

2. Permission issues:

   • Must own the stash
   • Can’t delete others’ links
   • Verify you’re logged in

3. Network issues:

   • Check internet connection
   • Refresh page
   • Try deleting again

4. Cache issues:

   • Hard refresh page
   • Clear browser cache
   • Link may appear cached but is deleted

Tag Issues

Can’t Add Tags

#

Problem: Tags don’t save or show error

Solutions:

1. Check tag format:

   • No special characters except hyphens
   • Reasonable length (under 30 chars)
   • Press Enter or Comma to add

2. Tag limit:

   • May have limit per link (e.g., 20 tags)
   • Remove some tags
   • Use broader categories

3. Network issues:

   • Wait for save to complete
   • Check for success message
   • Refresh and verify

4. Save link first:

   • Must save link before adding tags
   • Add tags in edit mode
   • Try again after initial save

Tag Suggestions Not Working

Problem: No suggestions appear when typing

   • Stash must have tags already
   • Start typing to trigger suggestions
   • Try different letters
