Creating Your First Stash
#

A Stash is a collection of links organized around a specific topic, theme, or purpose. Think of it as a curated board of bookmarks that you can share with others.

What Can You Use Stashes For?
#

  • Resource Collections — Tutorials, documentation, tools for a specific technology
  • Inspiration Boards — Design references, color palettes, typography examples
  • Research Topics — Academic papers, articles, data sources
  • Project Planning — References, competitors, resources for a project
  • Personal Bookmarks — Save and organize websites you visit frequently
  • Shared Collections — Curate links for your team, community, or audience

Step-by-Step: Create Your First Stash
#

Step 1: Click Create Stash
#

From any page, click the + Create Stash button in the navigation bar.

Step 2: Fill in Basic Information
#

Title (Required)
#

Give your stash a clear, descriptive name. Examples:

  • “Frontend UI Inspiration”
  • “Python Learning Resources”
  • “Cyberpunk Art & Design”
  • “Healthy Recipe Collection”

Description (Optional but Recommended)#

Add a brief description explaining what this stash contains. This helps others (and you) understand the purpose of the collection.

Good description example:

“A curated collection of the best frontend UI components, libraries, and design inspiration for modern web development.”

Cover Image (Optional)
#

Upload an image to represent your stash visually. This appears in search results and on your profile.

Tips for cover images:

  • Use high-quality images (minimum 800x600 pixels)
  • Choose images relevant to your topic
  • Consider using consistent styling across your stashes

Step 3: Choose Visibility
#

Public Stash
#

  • Visible to anyone on the internet
  • Appears in search results
  • Can be discovered on the Home page
  • Anyone can view (but not edit) your links

Private Stash
#

  • Only visible to you
  • Does not appear in search results
  • Perfect for personal bookmarks or work-in-progress collections
  • Can be converted to public later

Step 4: NSFW Content (If Applicable)
#

If your stash contains Not Safe For Work content:

  • Check the NSFW toggle
  • This adds a content warning for viewers
  • Helps maintain community standards

Step 5: Create
#

Click Create Stash to finalize. You’ll be redirected to your new stash page.

After Creation
#

Customize Your Stash
#

Once created, you can:

  • Edit Details — Change title, description, cover image
  • Add Links — Start populating your stash
  • Set Password Protection — Add an extra layer of security (see Password Protection)
  • Manage Settings — Configure additional options

Share Your Stash
#

Every stash has a unique URL you can share:

https://stashed.in/stash/your-stash-slug

The slug is auto-generated from your title but can be customized.

Stash Settings
#

Access settings by clicking the Settings (gear) icon on your stash page.

Available Settings
#

  • Edit Basic Info — Title, description, cover image
  • Change Visibility — Switch between public/private
  • Password Protection — Add or remove password requirement
  • Regenerate Password — Create a new access password
  • Download Password QR — Save QR code for offline sharing
  • Delete Stash — Permanently remove the stash (irreversible)

Tips for Great Stashes
#

  1. Be Specific — Narrow topics are more useful than broad ones
  2. Quality Over Quantity — Curate the best links, not every link
  3. Add Descriptions — Help others understand why each link matters
  4. Use Tags — Organize links within your stash (see Tags)
  5. Keep It Updated — Regularly review and refresh your links
  6. Consistent Branding — Use similar cover image styles across related stashes

Managing Multiple Stashes
#

Organizing Your Stashes
#

  • Group related stashes with similar naming conventions
  • Use your profile as a portfolio of your collections
  • Consider creating an index stash that links to your other stashes

Stash Limits
#

Check the current limits in your account settings. Free accounts may have limits on:

  • Number of stashes
  • Links per stash
  • Storage for cover images

Deleting a Stash
#

⚠️ Warning: Deleting a stash is permanent and cannot be undone.

Before Deleting
#

  • Download any important links
  • Consider making it private instead of deleting
  • Export your data if needed

How to Delete
#

  1. Open the stash
  2. Click Settings (gear icon)
  3. Scroll to Danger Zone
  4. Click Delete Stash
  5. Confirm the deletion

Next Steps
#

Now that you’ve created your stash:

Troubleshooting
#

Can’t Create Stash?
#

  • Ensure you’re logged in
  • Check that your title isn’t empty
  • Verify your internet connection
  • Try refreshing the page

Slug Already Taken?
#

Slugs must be unique. If your preferred slug is taken:

  • Add a number or word to make it unique
  • Use a variation of your title
  • The system will suggest available alternatives

Cover Image Won’t Upload?
#

  • Check file size (may have limits)
  • Use supported formats (JPG, PNG, WebP)
  • Try a different image file
